Too busy for my own good…

I had a big presentation due at work today so I’ve been pretty busy the past few days and let my posting slack off. Fortunately, Nancy is getting the hang of blogging and has picked up the slack. My sister likes to send out the email questionairre spam things to all her family and friends. For lack of something better to write about, I’ll just answer the questions of a recent one she sent:

1. WERE YOU NAMED AFTER ANYONE?
Me: My middle name is my dad’s first name
Nancy: No, not that I know of

2. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU CRIED?
Me: I don’t want to say
Nancy: Probably the last time BYUFan and I got in a fight but I can’t remember when specifically

3. DO YOU LIKE YOUR HANDWRITING?
Me: No
Nancy: No, it looks like a man’s messy handwriting

4. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LUNCH MEAT?

Nancy: Hmmm, no. I’m pretty boring

7. DO YOU USE SARCASM A LOT?
Me: No
Nancy: No

8. DO YOU STILL HAVE YOUR TONSILS?
Me: Yes
Nancy: Yes

Interestingly, our kids have enormous-sized tonsils. The oldest three have already had theirs removed. The younger two have big whoppers as well so they’ll probably end up getting them removed. They’re big enough that when the pediatrican, who has seen thousands of tonsils, looked at them she said “wow!”. They tonsil doctor sized them a 5+ on a scale of 1 to 5.

Nancy: Flowers, forget that – don’t write flowers, write ummm, pine smells in the forest, but I hate the smell of carnations -those are the worst flowers ever because they remind me of funerals.

You guys don’t have TV? When did that happen? I thought you had 1 million sports channels?

No special talents? What about music…piano/organ…

I didn’t realize sushi was your favorite food BYUFan, I think I remembered that about Nancy. I’ll be there in August, Happy Sumo!

We have two TVs – we just don’t have TV service. We haven’t renewed our satellite since we moved into the house at the end of last year. I haven’t bothered to crawl up into the attic and put up an antenna yet either. It’s been nice in that the kids read a bit more now and Nancy and I are generally more productive as well. That being said, I’ll probably break down and get TV service as soon as football season rolls around. I wouldn’t want to miss any BYU road games you know.

I’ve forgotten how to play the organ because I haven’t played since I was a student at BYU. Piano-wise I would say that I’m more talented than the average person but not particularly talented compared with great musicians.

Sushi-wise, would you believe that my company is thinking about hosting a sushi party for our vendors/clients at the end of this month and that I would be the main sushi chef? The thought of making sushi for 100 people after taking a 3 hour sushi class is a bit scary. Thus, we’re having a practice run this coming friday. My boss and colleagues are coming over and I will make sushi for them. We will time how long it takes to make various rolls, figure out what rolls are the best and how much they will cost, and generally determine if it will be feasible to have a sushi party or not. Stay tuned to see how that turns out.

You don’t have TV? Wow. I’m sad that the Amazing Race is over, but I’m super happy because “So You Think You Can DaNCE” is back on. Great show. A DVR is a must-have for any reality show, though, so you can FF through the dumb stuf and the commercials.

Nancy’s favorite sound reminds me of a funny story about my sister-in-law; when her kids were little, she would start revving them up about a half hour before her husband was expected home: Daddy’s going to be home soon! Aren’t you excited to play with Daddy? We love Daddy! What fun thing do you think Daddy will do with you when he gets home?

So by the time Daddy walked in the door, the girls were beside themselves: “DADDDDDYYYYYYY!” They would jump all over him and my SIL would slink off and read a book or something for 20 mins.

    War and Peace. Wow.
