Now that our basement is finished, we have enough space for a game room. What game room is complete without a pool table? It was fun to learn about tables and go shopping with Nancy. Neither of us are any good at pool but we figured it would be something fun to have for the kids in the basement. We investigated different brands on the internet and at local stores. The stores try and sell you on the premium quality of their wood, of the slate, of how it’s a “piece of furniture to last a lifetime”, etc.
It’s easy to get caught up in the hype and go for something expensive but I knew that our pool table would probably not get used that much and that I had no desire to buy “an heirloom that we could pass down to our children”. Thus, we went for a fairly inexpensive model. The installers came to install it the other day and the kids have been having fun shooting balls around although it looks like our kids have inherited my meager pool-playing skills.
