Sam missed only 2 days of class in 4th grade. Good enough to get an attendance award. I’m not sure he was too happy about getting his picture taken in front of the class. Next stop, 5th grade.

Summer Trip – Les Miserables, Aladdin, and the 4th of July
Some other highlights of our trip included attending Les Miserables at the Utah Shakespeare Festival. Les Miserables isn’t exactly Shakespeare fare but I’m glad they staged it nonetheless. We have the CDs and videos in our house and it’s a particular favorite of Anne’s so practically everyone in the family knows the play and the… Continue reading Summer Trip – Les Miserables, Aladdin, and the 4th of July
Summer Trip – Cedar City via Cove Fort
This summer we had an exchange student come and stay with us for a month. Ainhoa is from Zarautz Spain, in the Basque country. The start of her stay coincided with a trip to Cedar City to visit Grandpa Kent and Grandma Connie. It was fun having Ainhoa along although one problem with increasing our… Continue reading Summer Trip – Cedar City via Cove Fort
Anne’s Birthday
Anne somehow managed to finagle a friend party for her 15th birthday. I’m not sure how she managed to pull that off because Nancy is pretty much “partied out” from doing birthday parties over the years. Perhaps the fact that our exchange student Ainhoa was visiting helped Anne convince her Mom of the need for… Continue reading Anne’s Birthday
A Birthday and a Bear
Sam recently had a birthday and turned 10 years old. He and Diana have birthdays fairly close together so they got to jointly select the location for their birthday dinner. Their choice? Golden Corral. It was the first time any of us had ever been to Golden Corral and I think the kids were influenced… Continue reading A Birthday and a Bear
New Pool Table
Now that our basement is finished, we have enough space for a game room. What game room is complete without a pool table? It was fun to learn about tables and go shopping with Nancy. Neither of us are any good at pool but we figured it would be something fun to have for the… Continue reading New Pool Table
Science Fair
Instead of our family’s usual paper-towel experiment, Caroline came up with an experiment to see how well washable markers actually wash out. She had a good time shopping for supplies with Nancy and preparing the experiment. It was a good experiment but it seems that all the markers wash out pretty well so it was… Continue reading Science Fair

Emily’s Birthday 2011
Emily turned 16 this month and we had her birthday party a few days ago. Nothing special for her Sweet 16th birthday – just a boring family party. Sorry Emily – that’s what happens when you have a December birthday. There are two good things about being 16: 1. You can get your driver’s license… Continue reading Emily’s Birthday 2011
Christmas Lights
This year the weather was nice so I decided to get up on the roof and do the lights. Usually I manage to wait around long enough until I can use the weather as an excuse because I’m deathly afraid of heights – even of getting up past the 3rd run on a ladder. Unfortunately… Continue reading Christmas Lights
